I’ve had a great week at my daughter’s house in San Antonio, Texas. It makes me sad to go home tomorrow….. We always have a good time and this time is no different. My daughter and I went to the Michael’s here in San Antonio because I didn’t really bring any yarn for the kids to play with and they always want to play with my yarn.
I bought 2 skeins of the Red Heart Gum Drop Yarn! It’s such a soft and “fun” yarn to use and once the girls saw the yarn….they wanted hats. I started with the Grape Color yarn and designed this fun hat as you can see by Dakotah modeling it below!
With the next skein of Red Heart Gumdrop yarn, Rock Candy, I started the hat off the same way but increased the stitches by 4. Once I started making the bottom of the hat, the yarn started “pooling”. Once I realized it was pooling, I decided to just continue with the same stitches and ended up the the hat you can see below modeled by my other granddaughter, Jayden.
What do you think about the hats? Isn’t it amazing that you can get such different looks from the same brand of yarn just by the stitches you choose?
If you are interested in the patterns, please comment and let me know. If I get “plenty” (like hundreds) of comments, I’ll work on the patterns when I get back home from Texas. It’s up to you though…..
I would love some name suggestions too! It would be lots of fun to see what you (the ELKies) choose for a name!
And….since I have 3 grands, you know I have to crochet one more hat. It’s for my little man. I chose to use Red Heart Soft for his project and can show you once it’s done. This hat will be worked with the same design as the first hat you see but from the top down. I like guys wearing those types of hat and figured some of you would like it that way anyway!
