What an amazing year! There simply aren’t any other words to describe this past year. Sometimes in life you start something and it fizzles out after a month or two, but with ELK Studio, it’s different.
Crocheting has been a part of my life since I was 12. I’ve always loved creating things that I could give to my family or people who I love. When I decided to start ELK Studio a year ago, it was more for a hobby than anything else. I mean…..that’s all it is anyway right? Just a hobby? I had no idea what the future held, but I have to tell you it’s been an incredible journey and it’s not just a hobby.
I released 21 designs this past year with a mix of them being free and paid patterns. I’ve learned so much along the way and have gained some really great friends too. I would like to thank Wendy, Elizabeth, Becky, Ashley, Elena, Kimberly and Maria for helping to make me a better person, designer and friend. You ladies are a fantastic crew, and I’m blessed to know you!
Learning how to manage social media has also been quite enlightening and really a lot of fun. There are few people who I’m going to acknowledge but feel these folks deserve a blog post of their own because I want to show you the power of social media and how important of a role it plays in your success as a business person. So, be looking for that one in the near future.
By the way, I want to tell everyone how I came up with the name ELK Studio. First of all, it’s not the animal that lives in the forest….Nope, ELK stands for Emory Lashley Kathy. My husband has been the key supporter in my life since we married in 2009. He’s the love of my life and the reason I’ve had so many dreams to come true. I mean, how many people get to go back to college at the age of 40ish….? Plus, when I told him I wanted to start-up a crochet page and maybe sell it too, he didn’t think I was crazy. He supported me and has been my rock. So all the letters in ELK are CAPITALIZED my lovely friends! Now you know!
One more thing, I want to thank everyone that has taken to time to click on this blog post and if you’ve read this far it probably means you like me just a little. I can’t tell you how much I love seeing the pictures of your work using my patterns, all the comments you leave to me and especially the encouraging words. It makes this southern gal feel special. I love ya’ll!
Wait, one more thing after that other thing…..I’m have a One Year Anniversary Sale on Ravelry! During the checkout process, you will receive 40% off all of my patterns. No coupon is necessary!
Have a great day and be blessed!
Kathy
