“Making it thru Monday” Review #30

Monday’s are so great around ELK Studio’s Facebook page.  We’ve had another incredible week of talented folks join in on the fun of “Making it thru Monday”!

Cindy Sharp submitted the cutest little monkey ever!!  I’m always inspired by the patience and talents it takes to make this type of project.  There are so many ends to weave in that I’m not sure how I would ever finish!  Cindy, you are truly amazing, and I’m so glad you shared your work for everyone to see!

Cindy SharpOur next entry is from Tanya of MaDukes Hook Up and she is very crafty in her photograph.  Can you see the Houndstooth pattern?  Can you see the fox pattern?  She calls them, “The fox and the houndstooth.”  Now isn’t that clever?  The houndstooth scarf is from my free pattern and she incorporated the pattern into a simple beanie hat, and the fox pattern is from Louie Loops. Tanya, I love your sells pitch and hope you sell both of them!

MaDukes Hook UpI won’t have “Making it thru Monday” today, but be on the lookout for another blog post!  I’m celebrating my anniversary this week and have a small video clip from my trip last year.  No worries though because we will start back up next week!

Making it thru Monday by ELK StudioWhat a fun time this past week seeing all the great projects on “Making it thru Monday”!  If you would like to submit your wonderful creation, email me at elkstudiocrochet@gmail.com or you could upload your photo to my ELK Studio Facebook page.  Now, let’s get started.

Our top viewed submission comes from Francie of The Mad Capper.  She used a variety of wonderful designers to create this cute little outfit.  The hat was designed by Ira Rott and the pants are a modified version of her design too.  The sweater is also a modified pattern by Kim Guzman.  I love how Francie took some great patterns and added her own personality to them.  What a fantastic compliment to the pattern designers to include your own flavor don’t you think?  I’m always excited to see what people can do with my patterns!

The Mad Capper Making it thru Monday submission by ELK StudioFrancie, these projects are absolutely terrific and you are truly talented.  I know the person receiving this adorable outfit will be the talk of the town!!!  If you get a photo of the little person wearing everything, you should share!

The next project sent to me was by Carolyn from The Purple Poncho.  She used black Red Heart Love and Day Glow Red Heart super saver yarn. Don’t you just love the way the black really helps the brighter yarn to stand out?  Carolyn designed the hat herself and is working on writing out the pattern.  The slouchy hat is certainly one of the styles for crochet is fall/winter and I’m sure this hat will be on the top of the list!!!   You can also follow Carolyn on her Facebook page too if you want to see more of her other great projects.  It’s worth taking a look, I promise!

“Hi!  My name is Rachel Martinez.  My dad taught me to crochet when I was about twelve years old. I crocheted a lot of chains and didn’t really make anything else. I would sit down once in a while and make something very simple then my life took an unexpected turn. I had a daughter graduating from high school, and I found out that I was about to add a new baby to the family. Boy was I surprised. That’s when I picked up the hook and got serious about my crochet because I had baby stuff to make. YouTube was awesome for teaching me more about crochet than I could remember. Now, I’m having a blast with my 13 month old son and crocheting helps to pay bills and feed my new yarn addiction.”
