I’m really excited to partner with Craftsy, an online community for crafters offering online classes, patterns, yarn, eGuides and more. I want to introduce you to the FREE e-Guide titled, “The Beginner’s Guide to Crochet”. I’ll be going over great details and giving you some specific reasons why I think this e-guide is perfect for you whether you are a beginner or even a seasoned crocheter (yes, I’ll show you how you can use this guide so keep reading).
For a great deal of my adult life, I’ve heard first impressions are so important. That’s not only true for meeting someone face to face but learning a new skill from written materials. I can tell you that Craftsy nailed the layout and ease of read in this e-Guide.
In the e-Guide, you’ll receive a great term sheet with all the crochet abbreviations. I’ll have to admit, there were some I didn’t even know. Do you know what (pm) means? No, it doesn’t stand for private messaging like on Facebook. It actually means place marker. I haven’t had the need for this term in any of my patterns yet, but I can certainly see how this list could help the beginner. As you sit down to start your project, you can readily have this list beside you as a reference.
Also in the e-Guide are great photos showing you how:
1. To start a chain
2. To hold the yarn
3. To learn the single and double crochet stitch
Learning those 3 techniques listed above will be key to your success in learning crochet because they are just what the title says….it’s the beginning to learning crochet and once you learn those 3 techniques, you’ve just started a long and prosperous career/hobby in crochet.
If you have read this far and you are the experience crocheter, you may be asking yourself, “How can a beginner’s guide help me?” I’m in a few crochet groups, and I can’t tell you how many times people say they have been asked to teach crochet and want to know where to start. This e-guide would be perfect for your students. It’s something each person can have for themselves and use it when they want. Yep, once you register, the e-guide is yours for as long as you want. You can download it and open it up when you need it. Asking your students to bring this material to class would benefit everyone. You don’t have to worry about gathering materials for the first, second or even third class. I would imagine this material would carry your student a long way.
If you are new to Craftsy, you will enter your email address and password (2 step process) to sign-up and simultaneously download the free material. Existing users only need to sign in for access!
