I was so excited to see the positive response to the Double Down Beanie for our first project in the 2018 Christmas Present CAL. It’s a double-layered beanie that you make at the same time. You won’t be crocheting the entire hat then going back to add the second layer. It’s made at once….voila!
Another request was for a beanie made from the Top-Down. You know how I can’t tell the ELKies no right? Click HERE if you’d rather crochet that version. Otherwise, keep scrolling to get the pattern plus a surprise!

Leaving a long 15″ tail, you will weave in the yarn through the loops of the remaining stitches, pull the yarn tight to close the hole. Fasten off. Weave in the ends. If you need help with closing the hole, I made a video tutorial you can check out.
Remember, all the 2018 Christmas Present CAL information, supply lists, and patterns instructions will be kept on the Main Page. If you ever get lost, you can find everything you need in one place.
If you want to get an idea of what happens during the Christmas Present CAL, you can check out the 2015 and 2016, 2017 projects. Maybe you’ll get some ideas from there too.
