Mountain Land Scarf

I can remember the day the huge box of yarn from Michael’s Stores filled with the Barcelona yarn.  It was amazing to see all those wonderful colors and my creativity started flowing.  Thanks to Michael’s Stores for sponsoring the ELKies.

Now you’ll need to check out all the different colors, choose your favorite and either order it on-line or go to your nearest store if you gotta start today!  You’ll only need 1 skein of the yarn for this beautiful project.  Wouldn’t it make a great Christmas present?  You could definitely get a variety of the colors and make several and get a different look each time!  Perfect scenario right?

Supplies:

  1. Loops and Threads Barcelona Yarn, #5 Bulky Weight, 100% Acyrlic, 328 yards/200g, Colorway: Hazel
  2. Hook Size:  I/5.50mm
  3. Tapestry Needle for Weaving in the ends.

Abbreviations:

ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet

Gauge:  12 dc and 6 rows = 4″ (Gauge is not critical for this project)

Finished Measurement: 78″ x 7″

 

Notes: 

  • Ch 3 in the first st is considered the first st in the pattern.
  • If you want to use an alternative to the ch 3 as the first st, click HERE.
  • Multiples of 12 plus 3

Row 1:  Ch 27, dc in 4th ch from the hook, dc in next ch, *ch 3, 3 dc in next ch, skip next 3 chs, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip next 2 chs, **dc in next 5 chs, repeat from * ending last repeat at ** until last 3 chs, dc in last 3 chs, turn. (17 dc, 4 ch-3 sps, 2 sc)

Row 2: Ch 3 (See Pattern Notes), dc in next 2 dc,  ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 sp, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, dc in next 5 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 sp, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, dc in top of ch 3, turn.

Repeat Row 2 until you have reached your desired length.  Fasten off.  Weave in the ends.

Supplies:

  1. Loops and Threads Kaleidoscope Yarn, 90% Acyrlic, 20% Wool, 77 yards/100g, Colorway: Crystal (3 skeins) Please note that if you change hook size or want a longer project, you should purchase more than 3 skeins.  I would recommend 4-5 skeins
  2. Hook Size:  K/6.50
  3. Tapestry Needle for Weaving in the ends.

Gauge:  10 sc and 13 rows = 4″

Finished Measurement: 50″ x 6″

Special Stitches:

3-dc Cluster st:  (Yo, insert hook into stitch, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops) 3 times, yo pull through all 4 loops on the hook.  Click HERE for a video tutorial.
