When I attended Creativation last month, you may remember me talking about meeting the fabulous people at Yarnspirations. They gave me probably 10-11 skeins of the Patons Alpaca Blend yarn. The first project I made using the yarn was the Iron Mountain Beanie bottom up and top down version. With so much of the yarn left over, I thought it would be fun to make the Southern Trellis Wrap. As you can see in the photos, there are a few ways you can wear this elegant design. I doubled it and wrapped it around me as a test for a scarf. Oh. My. Goodness. Talk about it being warm. I can also see putting on my favorite pair of jeans and boots to wear it as well. I think whichever way you choose….you’ll look stunning.
Supplies:
- Patons Alpaca Blend, #5 Bulky Weight, 60% Acrylic, 22% Wool, 10% Nylon, 8% Alpaca, 155 yards/100g, Colorway: Smoke (7 skeins)
- Hook Size: J/6.omm
- Tapestry Needle for Weaving in the ends.
Abbreviations:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sp(s) – space(s)
Gauge: 14 sc and 14 rows = 4″
Finished Measurement: 65″ x 23″ (I think you’ll love the extra wide version of this wrap)
Special Stitch:
Cluster V-Stitch (Cl V-st): (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc)
Notes:
- Ch 1 in the first st is not considered the first sc in the pattern.
- Ch 3 is considered the first dc in the pattern.
- Ch is multiples of 4 plus 3
Row 1: Ch 63, Cl V-st (See Special Stitch), in 7th ch from hook, skip next 3 ch, *cl v-st, skip next 3 ch*, ending with dc in last ch, turn. (14 Cl V-sts)
Row 2: Ch 3 (See Pattern Notes), Cl V-st in next ch-3 sp and each ch 3 sp across ending with dc in top of ch 3, turn.
Rows 3 -72 : Repeat Row 2 until you’ve reached your desired length. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Edging All Around Project:
Round 1: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, *ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp, repeat from *across until the last st, 3 sc in top of ch 3, crochet evenly down the side of the wrap, 3 sc in 1 foundation st, 3 sc in each ch-3 sp, sc in each sc across, 3 sc in last st, crochet evenly up the side of the wrap, sc in first st, join by sl st to next st in first st,
The Next Round is just to complete the last short end of the wrap.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, 3 sc in each ch-3 sp and sc in each sc across. Fasten off. Weave in the ends.
Short end edgings:
Multiples of 3 plus 1
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in first st, *ch 5, complete picot in 3rd ch, ch 2, skip next 2 sts, sc in next st.
Repeat Row 1 for other short end of wrap. Fasten off. Weave in the ends.
