Southern Kisses is really probably one of my favorite designs so far. It’s certainly the largest project I’ve made in a long time besides blankets I made years ago. The tag line for my blog is Look Elegant, Feel Elegant. I truly believe this wrap will do the trick. The drape on it is stunning and looks good in whatever way you choose to wear it.
I made it using Lion Brand Heartland Yarn. It’s such a soft yarn and with using 6 skeins, only 1 skein had a knot which I thought were pretty good statistics. It makes a great yarn for the shawl because of how it feels against my skin. I can say that it won’t irritate me at all. It’s a little more expensive than say Red Heart Super Saver but for what you pay…..you get a great product. If you want to check out some prices, Craftsy sells Heartland yarn!

I think this is my very favorite shawl EVER! It is well worth buying the pattern for this!
Awww thanks!
Wish i would have found this before now. this is a beautiful shawl
I wish I had found this pattern before my mom died. She was the crocheter in the family, I’ve never been able to learn. It’s gorgeous shawl!
Thank you Nancy!
Geraldine,
The pattern mainly uses the dc stitches along with hdc and sc stitches. It’s just a “big” project which makes it look complicated but it’s not!
Kathy
Thank you for the free pattern! Can’t wait to make it.I belong to a Prayer Shawl Ministry group and I am planning to make several.
That’s wonderful Marvi!
Thank you for the free pattern. I’m going to make this for my mother. She’s going to be tickled! Once again….Thank you.
Oh, I bet she will! 🙂
Kathy, thank you so much for this gorgeous pattern. I am teaching myself to crochet and it’s looks like one I can do! I can’t wait to get started…I’m making an afghan for grandson now, so it will be a week or so. So excited to make something this beautiful for ME!
If you can make an afghan, I bet this will be fine for you too! We all need a project for ourselves!

HI Kathy I signed up for the newsletter a few weeks ago and have never received one. I re signed today and still nothing. Can you please tell me if there is a place to go to read the newsletter. I love your designs by the way.
I’m so sorry Carol! Send me an email at elkstudiocrochet@gmail.com with your email address. I can add you manually.
Kathy
Found it! Sorry! 🙂
Kathy, I am not finding the coupon code on anything. I love the shawl! I have favorited it on Ravelry. I know I am missing the code somewhere. Please help!
I think the code is Newsletter (I found this in the blog post above, though I haven’t tried it to double-check.) : )
You are right about the code Jenny.
Kathy
I appreciate the suggestion of a free pattern but it is less than clear how to get it. I have found no code and I think this is a sneaky way to get people to sign up for your newsletter.
Elizabeth,
i’m sorry you feel that way but I can assure you there is nothing sneaky about the way I did this promotion. I promised a free pattern for 2 days, and that’s just what I’ve done. There is a link in the blog post (to which almost 1,000 people have used since this morning with no problem). Click on the highlighted word FREE and it will take you directly to the Ravelry page. You will enter the code that is clearly written also in the blog post and you will receive your free pattern. If you notice, it is also a PUBLIC post which means everyone can see it, share it all over the internet so there is no deception since the code is being blasted every where for all to see. I hope you are able to find the code and enjoy your free pattern.
Kathy
Elizabeth,
If you read the blog post Kathy has taken the time to write, you would see that she has provided the pattern to FREE for EVERYONE. Even if she DID only offer it to those who signed up for her newsletter there would be nothing wrong with that. She can do whatever she wants with her patterns… she is under no obligation to give anything away to anybody, and she could have chosen to give it away ONLY to her TRUE FANS.
Running this promotion this way is a clever business move… this IS a business afterall.
Thank you for your support Lorene!
Elizabeth, just wondering how this is sneaky? It is a FREE pattern…you are in no way being charged for it! If Kathy asks you to sign up for her newsletter perhaps that’s her way of letting you know when other FREE patterns are available. If you don’t want the the awesome newsletter that she sends out (also FREE) then you always have the option to unsubscribe. The time and effort that Kathy as well as other designers put into their FREE patterns is not free to them nor their families. Their sites are not FREE to run. And, as Lorene stated earlier, none of them are under any obligation to give anything away to anybody. Have a great day everybody!
Thank you for the support Deborah!
Enjoy Brenda!
This is so beautiful, thank you so much for the pattern, I will enjoy making this
Hello kathy,
A friend of mine, sent me the link to your site…what a great patterns you’ve made!! I love it!! Immediately I subscride for your newsletter….(sorry for my English, I’m Dutch and the language is difficult for me…). I have one question: the Southern Kisses shawl you’ve made in blue…lovely! I understand that we can also get the pattern for free? If so, how can I get one? Thank you for answering this mail. Kind regards from the Netherlands, Lidia
Lidia,
On the post I gave you a link that will take you to Ravelry. Put in the code that I gave you when you get ready to check out and the shawl will be free.
Hope this helps!
Hoi Kathy,

When I go to the site of Ravelry (from button “free”), I only can buy the pattern….I try to translate it in Dutch, but I cann’t find what I’m doing wrong. So please, would you help me? Kind regards, Lidia
