Kay has lovely memories of learning to crochet with her father.
Who Taught You to Crochet?
My father taught me to crochet, tat, and embroider when I was 5 years old. We lived on a farm and had a modest income to say the least. I would sit in the floor at his feet and with a steel hook and sewing thread he would with the most tender words go over and over the chain and single crochet with me until I would get it. Unfortunately I really never learned the names of the stitches just how to do them. Thus many years later even though I could crochet I could not read a pattern.
How Long Have You Been Crocheting?
I have been crocheting 67 years, now I can read patterns and also assist with testing patterns for many designers. Thanks to crochet groups and friends.

Title: Dainty Crafter’s Vintage Rose
Description: Vintage Hat pattern
Why is Crochet More than Just a Hobby to You?
Crochet is more than a hobby, each time I pick up a hook I remember stories my father related about his mother and grandmother when they taught him to crochet. The greatest gift of crochet is what you can create with thread if you just let your mind move your hands. I crochet for charity creating hats for children who would go cold in the winter without the hats and without Christmas without the funds the Church got for the funds for the Vintage hats from the talented creation of the designers of the many crochet teams on facebook.
