If you are in my ELK Studio Crocheter’s Group, I showed you this fun cowl a week or so ago that I made using the new Lion Brand Landscape yarn that I received at the CGOA conference!  Well, I thought it was time to make it a FREE pattern for you!  It’s a fun and fast ONE SKEIN project!

Supplies:
1. Lion Brand Landscape Yarn 3.5 oz/100 grams, 147 yards per skein, #4 Worsted Weight Yarn, 100% Acrylic. I used 3.1 oz or approximately 130 yards, Colorway:  Tropics
2. Hook – K/6.5mm
3. Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends.

Level:  Beginner/Easy

Gauge: Is not important for this project

Abbreviations:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
hdc – half double crochet
rem – remaining
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp – space
st(s) – stitch(es)

Notes:
ch 1 at the beginning of a round is NOT considered a hdc/sc unless otherwise stated.
Ch 3 at the beginning of a round is considered a dc unless otherwise stated.
Ch 4 at the beginning of a round is considered a (dc, ch1) unless otherwise stated.

Pattern Instructions

Multiples of 3 (If you want a scarf instead of a cowl, increase your starting chain using the multiples of 3)  120, 150, 180, etc.

Ch 75, join with sl st to first ch.

Round 1:  Ch 1 (See Pattern Notes), sc in first ch and each rem chain around, join by sl st to first st. (75 sts)

Round 2:  Ch 1, hdc in first st, hdc in next st and each rem st around, join by sl st to first st. (75 sts)

Round 3:  Ch 3, (See Pattern Notes), 2 dc in same st, *skip next 2 sts, 3 dc in next st, repeat from *, join by sl st to top of ch-3. (75 sts)

Round 4: Ch 4, (See Pattern Notes), skip next st, dc in next 2 sts, *ch 1, skip next st, dc in next 2 st, repeat from * until last 2 sts, ch 1, skip next st, dc in last st, join by sl st to top of ch-3. (75 sts)

Round 5:  Sl st in first ch-1 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in st below ch-1 sp, *skip next 2 st, 3 dc in st below ch-1 sp, repeat from *, join by sl st to first st. (75 st)

Repeat Rounds 4-5:  3 times

Round 12: Repeat round 2

Round 13:  Ch 1, sc in first st, sc in next st and each rem st around, join by sl st to first sc. (75 st)

Fasten off and weave in the ends.
