Tuula learned to crochet as a young child and uses inspiration around her to crochet different projects and embraces the freedom her creativity gives her!
Who Taught You to Crochet?
My mother taught me the basic stitches when I was 5 years old. Then continued at school, here all children need to learn to knit and crochet in primary school.
How Long Have You Been Crocheting?
50 years 🙂 As a small girl I started just trying out what I could make. The first projects were clothes for my barbies. The best thing was to learn not to use any patterns but just give it a go and learn what worked and what didn’t. That gave a great foundation for not being afraid to start any kind of projects, trying new things, only using photos for inspiration if needed and pattern libraries.

One of my favourite creations that I have made in many colours.
Why is Crochet More than Just a Hobby to You?
It gives me the freedom and opportunity to think up always new things to make and try my limits as to what I can technically achieve. Also, colour combinations are so important, I love to use lots of strong, bright colours. The feeling of having created something I love to look at brings a lot of happiness. Anything I see, read, hear, can bring new ideas and that makes life so interesting!
