- Tapestry Needle for Weaving in the ends.
Abbreviations:
ch – chain

sl st – slip stitch
sc2tog – single crochet 2 stitches together
sp(s) – space(s)
Gauge: 16 dc and 9 rows = 4″
Finished Measurement: 18″, 20″,22″,24″
Notes:
- Ch 1 in the first st is not considered the first sc in the pattern.
- Ch 2 in the first st is not considered the first dc in the pattern.
- When ending Round 11, I suggest that you sl st into the ch-1 sp instead of the first st before you start Round 12. This is because you are ending the round with a ch 1. It will leave a slight space when you sl st straight into the first stitch. I played around and decided to sl st into the ch-1 sp then sl st into the first st to begin Round 11. It closes up that space and looks much better. It’s not necessary to do it this way, but you might want to test it out and see if it works well for you.
- I feel like since the body of this hat incorporates the single crochet stitch coupled with the texture of the yarn, I crocheted this hat a little “tighter” than normal. So…just check your flat circle measurement as you go to ensure you get the desired size.
Special Stitch:
Single Crochet Cluster (scc): Insert hook into indicated st, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through one loop, insert hook into next st, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through one loop, YO, pull through last 3 loops on the hook.
