That gorgeous red & beige hat the man is wearing at the top of the page, where can I find that pattern? I love it 🙂

Hi Kathy,
When I clicked on the main link for free patterns a collage of images came up. I love the look of everything shown but the image that really caught my eye was that gorgeous sweater in the middle. I love the colors used and the shawl collar… alas I could not find the pattern for it so I checked out your Ravelry page. Unfortunately it is not listed there either. Is the pattern for the sweater available?
I have already printed out patterns for your Inspired by Taylor Beret and a couple of the men’s hats.
Looking forward to getting the sweater pattern if it is available.
Keep up the good work!
Karen

Karen,
Here’s the link to the pattern. It’s a Drops Design, and I loved making it.
Karen Wing says
Hi Kathy,
Thank you so much for providing the link to the Drops Design jacket! I am thrilled to have the pattern. I also found your blog entries about the yarn you used and your notes on making the jacket with additional pictures of the finished jacket. How true that choosing the right yarn is important… while the image shown in the Drops Design pattern is pretty, your jacket is just stunning!!
I am now following you on Facebook and delighted to have found your blog.
Thank you again for the pattern!

I’m trying to make the history tote. However as I crochet the row s it seems to be getting wider at the join. Help. So I’ve basically taken the 20 rows out and an starting over.
Kathy Lashley says
Do you mean the honeysuckle tote? It may get a little wider but it shouldn’t be overly drastic. Maybe check your stitch count at the end of each round if you aren’t already doing it. Let me know how that works for you.

Diane Wetzel says
I am totally confused by your website. How do you get to the free patterns. I had clicked on a houndstooth scarf pattern I had found from Pinterest and have not been able to find any patterns, much less the pattern I wanted. Please help.
ELK Studio - Handcrafted Crochet Designs says
Oh Diane I’m so sorry! If you hover over the “Free Patterns” tab it will give you a drop down menu of the free pattern listings. If you are looking specifically for the Hounds Tooth and still have trouble, here is the link for you. http://elkstudiohandcraftedcrochetdesigns.com/2013/01/23/excited-about-crochet-patterns/

Thank you that was exactly what I needed. Now I’ll have to checkout your other paterne!

Now that the school term has ended, I hope you will be able to release the pattern for that wonderful hat! I’m crocheting several chemo caps for my sister and this one would be perfect. She has asked for a sun hat and I have been stuck about how to crochet around the millinery wire so the brim will stand out. P.S.: I am the graduate academic coordinator in the Institute of Molecular Biophysics at Florida State University. It’s very gratifying to see you working so hard to finish and yet still have time for your business. Congratulations!
kathylashley says
Thank you Dale for the compliment. Graduating from Auburn has been one of the most satisfying accomplishments in my life and I’ve certainly learned a lot about myself along the process!
The pattern is currently being tested, so I hope it won’t be too much longer for the release.
How wonderful of you to make hats for your sister. I know she appreciates the time it takes for you to make them. I also pray for her healing and hope she recovers completely.

Bernice says
How do you get your hat to be stiff enough to have a form? I have always wondered how to do this…
kathylashley says
I use millinery wire.

kathylashley says
Thank you Mary. I’m having it tested right now so hopefully within the next few weeks or so. However, this pattern will be a paid for pattern but I hope you will still anticipate the wait!
Tisa Lynch says
The hat is darling. This is the first time i saw it. Glad you won the contest. I would have
voted for you too if i had known. I also would love the pattern.
Hope school goes well for you, Kathy. Tisa
kathylashley says
Thank you Tisa! I appreciate your interest in the hat and I am so excited to almost be done with school. Stay connected and hopefully when I’m done I can devote more time to crochet!
Linda says
Love the patterns!
kathylashley says
So glad you do Linda! It makes it all worth while to share!
Cindy says
I also LOVE your hat design. I never buy patterns but I will make an exception for this one. Please consider this when the timing is right for you.
kathylashley says
Cindy,
Awww that is so sweet of you! After May 4th, I will be able to focus much more time to my crocheting! I can’t wait either. All these ideas are dying to come out!
Kathleen Peters says
I hope that I can also get that pattern. Fabulous work. I love it. And congratulations on winning the contest. Hope they paid you big bucks to help finish school. I will keep watching to see what you decided to do about sharing this pattern. Good luck in school!!
kathylashley says
Kathleen,
Thank you so much! I am so ready to be finished but it has been a dream come true for me. Please do stay in touch!
Carolyn Whittenburg says
That’s such a beautiful hat!!! Congrats on winning the contest! You are very talented, and it’s even more impressive that you did all that beautiful crocheting and designing while tackling your college degree! I do hope you’ll publish the pattern. I can’t wait to make some for me and my sisters! Also, good luck with your ELK Studio. With your obvious talent, it will surely be a success. And good luck as you finish your last semester at school, too.
kathylashley says
Carolyn,
Awwww Thanks! The college degree is a life long dream come true and ELK Studio is a dream in the making. I am so touched by the response of the hat! Maybe once I finish school I will have more time to tweak the pattern! Blessings to you!
Bernice says
Love that hat…good for you…pattern will be anticipated when coming out….
kathylashley says
Bernice,
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts. When I sat down to start making this hat, I had no idea that it would turn out as good as it did and then really didn’t know if I would win! I am so excited and thrilled to have this opportunity to show off my work. I also didn’t think anyone would be that interested in the pattern. You can check out my Facebook page to stay connected if you would like! The link is on my blog.
Gloria Phillips says
I really love this hat. It’s so elegant! Although I don’t have much time for crocheting right now, I look forward to the release of the pattern. Happy crocheting!
kathylashley says
Gloria,
Thank you so much for the kind words! With school, I haven’t had much time myself for designing and I’ve been having to work on my orders tor the hat. I had no idea it would really take off and be popular! It’s a good problem to have though!
Karin says
I to would like the hat pattern. And it doesn’t have to be free 😉
kathylashley says
Karin,
Thank you so much for your interest! I am in my last semester of school and may give consideration publishing the pattern once I finish. I didn’t realize anyone would really be that interested. Thank you so much for stopping by!
ladona says
where is the pattern for the hat? thats what i wanted to see. i’m very disappointed not to see a pattern for that beautiful hat
kathylashley says
Ladona,
I am sorry the hat pattern has not been released, and I shall give it some consideration to publish it in the future. I am currently in my last semester of college and have been extremely busy with school and trying to keep up with individual crochet orders.
Thank you for your interest and I appreciate your comments!
