As I sat and opened all the packages today sent for this month’s ELK Studio – From the Heart charity event, I couldn’t help but feel nothing but love. I touched each hat mailed by the dedicated women in this group, and I want everyone to know the quality behind these hats go way beyond the average crochet hat. The extra flower, heart or decorative brim was just an added bonus not to mention the super softness each held. I can only imagine the smiles these hats will bring to the people who need them the most. I know in my heart they will know someone cares about them.
We chose Halos of Hope for our charity event this month. They are a not-for-profit organization that is “committed to providing volunteer-crafted hats to cancer centers around the country.” I’m so excited that our group made 46 hats this month to send them! We are such a tiny group that is making a big difference in this world. We may have people from California to New York but it’s times like this the distance becomes very close and the miles disappear.
If you would like to become part of this wonderful group, it would give you such a feeling of fulfillment. I have a Facebook group called ELK Studio Crocheters and it’s where all the information about dates, events and deadlines are kept. Just ask to join the group and come help out those who need us.
