Hi everyone! It’s time to kick off our ELK Studio – From the Heart Winter/2016 Crochet Charity Event! Now is a great time to start getting your projects ready! It always makes me feel so good to give back wouldn’t you agree? Crocheters are some of the most caring people I’ve ever known, and I’m sure if we work together, this event will be successful!
Tracy is our organizer for the event. I had the privilege of meeting Tracy a few weeks ago at our local “Make it for Me” event! She’s quite the character and loads of fun. I loved her personality but more so her passion for helping those she loves. You see, Tracy’s mom and one of her dearest friends is fighting cancer right now. Tracy has crocheted both of them chemo hats to keep them warm this year. I thought it would be great to give to the two hospitals where her mom and friend are seeking treatment! Tracy was also kind enough to give me a couple of photos showing off her loved ones. Tracy’s friend, Donna, is the top picture and her mom is in the bottom picture.
For this particular event, we are supporting 2 different facilities in which Donna and Tracy’s mom are currently receiving treatment. The Comprehensive Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and the other is Winship Cancer Center at Emory in Atlanta, Georgia.
I’m asking for you to only make ONE item so it won’t be too hard on you to get it done…… but think about it for a second, if a lot of us were to make just one hat, scarf or blanket….it would certainly add up!
