Pattern Notes:
- Ch 1 at beginning of a round does not count as a single crochet or the first st.
- Ch 3 at beginning of a round counts as a double crochet or you may use the alternative to the chain 3.
- When there is a Measurement Check, check the measurements of your piece carefully. If you need fewer or more rows to meet the measurement, subtract or add rows as necessary to meet the given measurements.

Once the panels are sewn together you will begin working on the vest Body.

Row 5: Ch 3, dc in next st, skip next st and ch-1 sp, 5 dc in next st, *skip next (ch-1 sp, 2 sts, ch-1 sp), 5 dc in next st, repeat from * across until last ch-1 sp and 3 sts, skip ch-1 sp and next st, dc in next st, dc in top of ch 3, turn.
Row 6: Ch 3, dc in next st, skip next 2 sts, shell in next st, *skip next 4 sts, shell in next st, repeat from * across until last 4 sts, skip next 2 sts, dc in next st, dc in top of ch-3, turn.
In the next row, you will need to add stitches as follows:
X-Small – No additional sts.
Small – Add one st.

Row 9: Ch 3, dc in next st, dc in each rem st across, turn.
Row 10: Ch 3, dc in next st, skip next st, V-st in next st, *skip next 2 sts, V-st in next st, repeat from * across until last 3 sts, skip next st, dc in next st, dc in top of ch-3, turn. [40 (47, 52, 56, 62, 65, 69, 75, 77) V-sts, 4 dc]
Row 11: Ch 3, dc in next st, 3 dc in each ch-1 sp across to last 2 sts, dc in next st, dc in top of ch 3, turn. [124 (145, 160, 172, 190, 199, 211, 229, 235) dc]
Repeat Rows 10 and 11 another 17 (16, 14, 14, 13, 13, 12, 12, 12) times, then repeat Row 10 once more.
Measurement Check! Vest should measure 27” from shoulder to last row, you may add or omit repeats as desired, but always end with a Row 10. The edging will add another 3” to the length.
