Supplies:
- Red Heart Soft, #4, 141 g/256 yards, Charcoal/Wine/White or Tangerine/Chocolate/Deep Sea, approximately 120-160 yards.
- Hook – J/6.0 mm
- Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends
Abbreviations:
beg – beginning
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
hdc – half double crochet
psc – single crochet picot
rem – remaining
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
st(s) – stitch(es)
YO – yarn over
Gauge: 12 dc sts and 8 rows = 4” (But does not really matter for this project).
Finished Size: Small – wine/white/gray = 17″ x 5 1/4″, Medium – brown/orange/deep sea = 22 1/4″ x 5″
Pattern Notes:
- Ch 1 at beginning of pattern does not count as first st unless otherwise stated.
- Ch 3 at beginning of pattern counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.
- Work is not turned, the right side is always facing.
- Pattern as written using the wine/white/gray colors. Substitute as you please.
Special Stitches:
Single Crochet Picot (Psc) – insert hook into st, YO, pull up a loop, [YO and pull through 1 loop] 3 times, YO and pull through both loops, pull picot to front of work. Click HERE for a video tutorial!
Reverse Stitch (also called Crab Stitch): Reverse sc is made by working a ch 1, working from left to right (right to left for left-handed people), sk first st, insert hook from front to back in next st to the right (left), yo, pull loop through st, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook.
Round 1: Using Wine , ch (120,150), join by sl st to first ch, ch 1 (See Pattern Notes), sc in first ch, sc in next ch and each rem chain around. (120,150 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1, hdc in first st, hdc in next st and each rem st around, join by sl st to first st.
Round 3: Using Charcoal, ch 3, (See Pattern Notes) dc in next st and each rem st around, join by sl st to first st.
Round 4: Using Wine, ch 1, sc in first st, Psc (See Special Stitches) in next st, *sc in next 2 sts, sc picot in next st, repeat from * until last st, sc in last st, join by sl st to first sc.
Round 5: Using White, ch 1, sc in first st, ch 1, skip next st, *sc in next 2 sts, ch 1, skip next st, repeat from * until last st, sc in last st, join by sl st to first sc.
Round 6: Using Charcoal, ch 2, dc in first st, dc in next ch-1 sp, *dc in next 2 sts, dc in next ch-1 sp, repeat from * until last st, dc in last st, join by sl st to first dc.
Repeat Rounds 4-6 until you have reached your desired width. (I repeated rounds 4-6 four times for the wine/white/charcoal scarf and 3 times for the tangerine/chocolate/deep sea).
Round 11: Using Wine, Ch 1, hdc in first st, hdc in next st and each rem st around, join by sl st to first st.
Round 12: Ch 1, sc in first st, sc in next st and each rem st around, join by sl st to first st.
Edging (Optional)
Using White, reverse st (See Special Stitches) in next st and each rem st around, join by sl st to first reverse st. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
