Hi everyone! If you’ve made your way to this page that means you may want to know a little more about me right? My name is Kathy Lashley, and I’ve crocheted on and off for over 30 years. A long time ago my 7th grade teacher taught me how to crochet and I’ve never really lost the passion. As my children were growing up, I didn’t have as much time to crochet but now that their grown, it’s been like a wild-fire has grown inside of me.
In December 2012, I wanted to officially start a small business but wasn’t sure what to call it. To make a long story short, ELK stands for Emory Lashley Kathy and yes, I know the proper etiquette says KLE, but I liked ELK and it seemed to flow and sound better. I married Emory in 2009 and since then every dream that I’ve ever had he has supported and given me encouragement. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for him and wanted him included in my business (although he will NEVER pick up a hook and yarn……
I hope you enjoy hanging out here with me and my Southern Alabama accent. If you have any questions or comments, let me know. I would love to hear from you!
Here is a picture of me and my hubby.
Have a great day and be blessed!

I would like the southern kiss pattern. Is it free or not?? I keep trying to get a copy oh the pattern, but nothing will work. I put in newsletter and it didn’t work. Can you help me with this “please”.
Kathy Lashley says
The pattern was free a couple of months ago but is now only available as a paid pattern. I do giveaways in my blog from time to time and may do it again in the future.

On row 1 you have ch 3 2dc ch2 3dc how does that make 8 sts
Susan says
That is for Dixie Charm
Kathy Lashley says
Susan,
The ch 3 counts as the first dc so thats one stitch then add the others which will give you 8. Hope this helps.

I have been crocheting since I was a young teenager, so about a hundred years. 🙂 My youngest aunt taught me how to do it with granny squares. I can still hear her laughter after all these years…
I’m always scouting for patterns that I can use to create items for sale and have a question for you. Do we have permission to sell items made from your free and/or paid patterns?
I know that some designers allow it and others are adamant about not allowing it. I just don’t want to do something that will get someone mad at me.
Thank you in advance for your response. Have a blessed day!
Kathy Lashley says
You can certainly use my free and paid patterns to create your projects to sale. I think we all need to try to make the most of our talents! The only thing I ask is if you promote it on any social media of any type that you credit me as the designer and provide a link back to my site!
Have a great day!

Thank you, Kathy. I appreciate this very much!
Do you have a button that I could put in my blog sidebar to link to your page? If not, do you have an image that I could use to create one?
Thank you in advance. Have a blessed St. Patrick’s Day. 🙂
Kathy Lashley says
I do have a button! Thank you for wanting to add it. It’s on the sidebar towards the bottom of the page!

Hi Kathy,
I found your site in a Google search for “boot cuffs”. I feel like I’ve struck gold! Your warmth comes through on your site and in your blog, and I feel like I’ve found a friend. I just finished one boot cuff and it was so easy. I’ve been crocheting for 25 years but have been in a rut for about 6 months. Your boot cuff pattern has inspired me to pick up my hooks again and get moving. BTW, I love Alabama! I was there for the first time two weeks ago looking at UA as we’re getting ready to send our youngest there in the Fall.
I’ll be a regular on your site for sure.
Have a fabulous day and weekend!

So glad you are back to crocheting!!! Wonderful to hear and although I graduated from Auburn University, I guess it’s okay to check out University of Alabama. 🙂

Kathy,
I love your patterns. Do you have a pattern of your basket weave bootcuffs? Or can you tell me how many stitches you started with and I can do the rest. Also, what is the circumference of your cuffs? I belong to a charity group where we make blankets, hats, scarfs. etc for different organizations and the military. We are going to be part of a craft fair so we can raise money for our group and since cuffs seem to be popular now and they are easy to make, I thought I would try a few different patterns.
Thanks

Tricia,
Thank you! It’s been over a year since I made the basket weave boot cuffs and I never wrote the pattern. I think I still have them, so let me look at them and I can get back with you.
As far as the circumference goes, all my boots cuffs were custom made, so there wasn’t an exact size because I would get the measurement from my customer and make them accordingly.
I think it’s great that you want to make some to donate but the size of a person’s calf can vary so much that it may be difficult to gauge. I agree with you that they will be popular. It was my best seller last winter. I’m sure you could just make some in varying sizes and it would work. I know I’m not much help…sorry.
I would love to see some of your finished projects from my patterns if you want to show them off!!
Kathy
