It’s time to kick off Day 1 of the “Make it for Me” projects! You’ve survived the holidays and now It’s Time for You! For the entire month of January, I will bring you FREE patterns from amazing designers in the crochet industry. One of the great parts of “Make it for Me” is the designer will tell you exactly what that project means to him/her and why it is considered perfect for you too! Take a few minutes to check it out and decide if this crochet pattern is the one that you’ll dedicate to make for yourself. If this is your first time here, you can find out the details about how “Make it for Me” works HERE. Be sure to scroll all the way down. I have a giveaway included on this blog post along with the announcement of a local “Make it for Me” event in my home town!

Here’s why I think this is a perfect “Make it for Me” project. It’s a very stylish and warm scarf that is sure to grab the attention of everyone! (But don’t give it away…..) It works up quicker than you think once you get the hang of the stitches. You know how I love texture, and Chestnut Hill certainly gives you plenty of it!

- Ch 1 at beginning of pattern does not count as single crochet or half double crochet unless otherwise stated.

- On Row 2 after working the last MC for that row, you will not ch 1 before the hdc.

Fasten off and weave in the ends. You will then join the ends together using the mattress stitch or the whip stitch if you prefer.
Optional Edging
For a finished look, you can evenly use sc stitches on both sides of the scarf. *Sl st, ch 1, sc in same space, then evenly crochet sc stitches around, join by sl st to first st. Fasten off and weave in the ends. Repeat from * for the other side of the scarf.

Well I just don’t know yet….We may close the place down if we are having so much fun! If you are interested in coming, please let me know. I would love a “head count”. You can find the address and other information on the Yarnhouse Studio website! I would encourage all of you to form your own “Make it for Me” event at your local yarn store, coffee shop, etc. Let’s just take at least one day out of the month to celebrate US!
Have a great day!

I have visited your site on and off for about 6 months and love it and your designs. Just signed up for your newsletter. Been crocheting many years and currently trying to teach myself to knit. Your event in Opelika sounds fun. I am just outside Birmingham. Do you know of anything similar in this area?
Kathy Lashley says
Since I started the event…I’m not sure there is one in Birmingham….but you could always get a group of friends together and create your own!
Myra Johnston says
I would love to come to the Opelika event but I live near Huntsville and that’s just a wee bit to far to drive. I’m sure it will be a nice event. I love you site and I love your patterns.
Kathy Lashley says
I totally understand. A 4 hour drive is a distant. Thank you for all the support! You should try to get your own group together for a “Make it for Me”!
Marcia Chase says
If only I still lived and worked in Opelika!!
Kathy Lashley says
Awww. I wished you did too!!
Sylvia says
Wish I lived nearby so I could join your event. I don’t have any “real life” friends that crochet. Thank you for doing this online event … I enjoyed your Christmas Present CAL very much!
Kathy Lashley says
Awww. I wished you did too. You should try to search out people that love crochet in your area and get together. I’m sure there has got to be someone to hang out with that loves to crochet too.
elizabeth leach says
do you have to use the yarn listed?
Kathy Lashley says
Nope…You can use whatever you want, but I would pay attention to the gauge listed in the pattern, so that you will be happy with your end results.
Katie says

Kathy Lashley says
Thank you! Be sure to share the photos…I wanna see too!
