Let’s start off with thanking Red Heart Yarn for sending me some of their newest colors! For this blog post, I’ll talk about the very colorful Red Heart Super Saver Stripes Yarn! I think you’ll really enjoy making the Tempting Lollipop Beanie with this yarn.

Supplies:
- Red Heart Super Saver Stripes #4 Worsted Weight Yarn, 100% Acrylic, 236 yards/141g, Colorway: Favorite Stripe
- Hook Size: H/5.00mm
- Tapestry Needle for Weaving in the ends.
Gauge: 16 sc and 15 rows = 4″
Finished Measurement: Approximately (Medium/22″, Large/24″)
Abbreviations:
ch – chain
rem – remaining
RS – right side
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp(s) – space(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
WS – wrong side
Special Stitches:
Pique Stitch – YO, insert hook in specified stitch, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through 2 loops, YO, insert hook into same stitch, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through all 4 loops.
Single Crochet 2 Together (sc2tog) – Insert hook in specified st, YO, pull up a loop, insert hook into next st, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through all three loops on the hook.

Notes:
- Ch 1 is not considered the first st in the beginning of the round.
- Sl st is considered a stitch in this pattern beginning in Round 6
- You will turn your work after Round 5 which means you will be working on the wrong side of the pattern on Round 6. You will continue working on the wrong side of the pattern until Round 27. On Round 28, turn your work back to the right side and finish your project.
- After Round 6, you will be working in the round without joining by sl st.
- Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of the next round.
Round 1: (RS),Ch (66,70), join to first ch by sl st, ch 1, sc in first ch, sc in next chain and each rem ch around, join by sl st to first st. (66,70)
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, sc in next st and each rem st around, join by sl st to first st.
Round 3-5: Repeat Round 2.
Turn your work
Round 6: (WS), Place a stitch marker in the first st, skip the first st, pique st in the next st, *sl st in the next st, pique st in the next st, repeat from * around. (33, 35 pique, 32,34 sl st)
Round 7: Sl st in the first pique st (placing a stitch marker), pique st in the next sl st, *sl st in the next pique st, pique st in the next sl st, repeat from * around.
Rounds 8-27: Repeat Round 7 or until you have reached your desired height (approx. 7-7 1/2″)
To ensure the decrease stitches work out evenly, you will need to make sure you have (66,70) stitches in round 28 which means you may have to add one stitch since you skipped a stitch in Round 6
Turn your work
Round 28: (RS), Ch 1, sc in each sl st and pique st around, join by sl st to first st. (66.70 sc)
Round 29: Ch 1, sc first st, sc in next (3,4) sts, sc2tog, *sc in next (4,5) sts, sc2tog, repeat from * around, join by sl st to first st. (55,60 sc)
Round 30: Ch 1, sc in first st, sc in next (2,3) sts, sc2tog, *sc in next (3,4) sts, sc2tog, repeat from *around, join by sl st to first st. (44,50 sc)
Medium Hat
Round 31: Ch 1, sc in first st, sc in next st, sc2tog, *sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog, repeat from * around, join by sl st to first st. (33 sc)
Round 32: Ch 1, sc in first st, sc2tog, *sc in next st, sc2tog, repeat from * around, join by sl st to first st. (22 sc)
Round 33: Ch 1, sc2tog all around, join by sl st to first st (11 sc). Leaving a 4-5″ tail close the hole and weave in the ends. Fasten off. See tutorial link above for closing the hole in the top of a beanie.
Large Hat
Round 31: Ch 1, sc in first st, sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog, *sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog, repeat from *around, join by sl st to first st. (40 sc)
Round 32: Ch 1, sc in first st, sc in next st, sc2tog, *sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog, repeat from *around, join by sl st to first st. (30 sc)
Round 33: Ch 1, sc in first st, sc2tog, *sc in next st, sc2tog, repeat from * around, join by sl st to first st. (20 sc)
Round 34: Ch 1, sc2tog all around, join by sl st to first st. (10 sc) Leaving a 4-5″ tail close the hole and weave in the ends. Fasten off. See tutorial link above for closing the hole in the top of a beanie.
