It’s always a pleasure for me to design a hat specifically for a cancer patient and the Saving You Summer Beanie is perfect. As I sat down with the cotton yarn, I thought it was time for another hat for the chemo patients especially since I was just at Emory Winship hospital a few weeks ago donating hats made by the great gals in the ELK Studio Crocheter’s Group! We have another event coming up (details at a later date), and I wanted to design something that was quick, easy and fun.

The Saving You (From) Summer beanie is designed to have a somewhat open design while still allowing enough protection from the sun too. Many people getting chemo treatments still get cold in the doctor’s offices and a lightweight hat made of cotton is the perfect little trick. I hope you will consider making a few of them and giving them to someone you know that needs it or even donating to your local cancer center.
