Mystic Cowl!

If you loved the Mystic Beanie….the latest pattern is called Mystic Cowl is perfect for you because it matches the beanie.  It’s versatile and can easily be made into a long scarf if you wanted just be increasing the beginning chain stitches!  I also tried out a new yarn….If you’ve never used the Cascade Pacific, you’ll love it!  The shine and shimmer makes each color just radiate not to mention the softness.

Supplies:

1. Cascade Pacific Chunky, 60% Acrylic, 40% Superwash Merino Wool, 100 g (3.5 oz) 120 yds.  I used approximately 102 yds.  Colorway:  Lavendar and Violet
2. Hook – J/6.0
3. Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends

Gauge:  Isn’t important for this project.

Note:  If you decided to make your project larger or smaller, just make sure you chain in multiples of 4.  Instructions given for the cowl pattern will match the blue/white Mystic beanie you see in the photo below.  Check out the Mystic Beanie pattern for other color sequences.

Abbreviations:
ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
fpdc – front post double crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch

Using Color A Ch 80, join by sl st to first ch. (Be sure not to twist your ch)

 Round 1:  ch 1 and sc in first ch, sc in next ch and around, sl st to first sc (80st)

Round 2:  ch 1 and hdc in first st, hdc in next st and around, sl st to first hdc. (80st)

Change to Color B

Round 3:  ch 1 and sc in first st, sc in next st and around, sl st to first sc (80st)

Round 4:  Repeat Round 3

Change to Color A

Round 5:  ch 1 and sc in first st, *skip next st, 3 dc in next st , skip next st, sc in next st*, repeat from *to*, join with sl st to first sc. (80 st)

 Round 6:  Ch 1 and 3 fpdc around first st, *skip next st, sc in next st, skip next st, 3 fpdc around next st, repeat from *to* sl st to first fpdc. (80 st)

Change to Color B

 Round 7: sl st in next st, ch 1 and sc in same st, skip next st, *3 fpdc around next st,  skip next st, sc in next st*, repeat from *to*, join with sl st to first sc. (80 st)

 Round 8:  Ch 1 and 3 fpdc around first st, *skip next st, sc in next st, skip next st, 3 fpdc around next st, repeat from *to* sl st to first fpdc. (80 st)

Change to Color A

Rounds 9-10:  Repeat Rounds 7-8 (80 st)

Change to Color B

 Round 11:  sl st in next st, ch 1 and sc in same st, skip next st, 3 sc in next st, *skip next st, sc in next st, skip next st, 3 sc in next st*, repeat from *to*, join with sl st to first sc. (80 st)  Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Round 12:  ch 1 and sc in first st, sc in next st and around, sl st to first sc (80 st)

Change to Color A

Round 13:  ch 1 and hdc in first st, hdc in next st and around, sl st to first hdc. (80 st)

Round 14:  ch 1 and sc in first st, sc in next st and around, sl st to first sc.  (80 st)

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

This pattern sequence followed the cream/black mystic beanie hat showed in the picture above and with only one row of sc on the beginning and end of the scarf.
