When Michael’s asked me if I was interested in doing a 5 month campaign promoting their new yarn, I was thrilled! I shop at my local Michael’s in Columbus, Georgia all the time so it was easy to say yes to such a great company!
If you want to see all the colors, view the FB Live event HERE plus see the upcoming CAL project!
Please Favorite of Queue in Ravelry!
The yarn is a new addition to the Loops and Thread brand and is called Colorwheel. As you can see by the photo above, I’ve been playing with it and have a new FREE pattern for you that you’ll find by scrolling below.
The Colorwheel yarn is out in the stores TODAY and will be available on-line later this month! There are 54 colors in the line, and I can tell you by the ones they sent me….you are gonna love it! There are so many shades that compliment one another, you could spend hours trying to figure out a color scheme for your project. You’ll even get 12 variations of the color blue!
Let me give you the specifications:
- The yarn is a (#4) worsted weight yarn
- 90 yards/1.75 oz/50 grams
- Machine wash/tumble dry low
- 100% anti-pilling
- $1.99/skein
The yarn is super soft and would be what I would describe as a full #4 weight yarn. I know some worsted weight can feel lighter but this yarn is a true worsted weight.
The Colorwheel yarn will be released in over 800 stores throughout the U.S. and Canada. If you want to know whether the yarn is in your local stores, Michael’s has a store finder on their page. You can easily find the store closest to you and give them a call to see if they have it!
For the first project in the campaign, I wanted to pick some fun and cheery colors, so I chose from white to strawberry! I loved the way the yarn stitched up in the project and think you will definitely love it too!
So to keep you excited, next month (April) we will do a CAL (Crochet-Along). I’ll release the materials along with the type of project at the end of this month.
Supplies:
- Loops and Threads Colorwheel, #4 Worsted Weight Yarn, 100% Anti-pilling Acrylic, 90 yards/50g, Colorways: White (1 skein), Light Pink (2 skeins), Mid Pink (2 skeins), Strawberry (2 skeins)
- Hook Size: J/6.00
- Tapestry Needle for Weaving in the ends.
Abbreviations:
ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)
Gauge: 12 hdc and 9 rows = 4”
Finished Measurements: 73″ x 16″
Notes:
- Ch 2 does not count as the first hdc.
- I did not want an edging for this project because I felt like the way the pattern is constructed, that it looks fine without one. Of course, you can always add a single crochet edging if you’d like.
- You will actually have one less row on the decreasing side which gives you a total of 158 rows instead of 159. The reason for this was to ensure the decreasing side started on the right side of the project. It will not make a noticeable difference to have one less row….I promise.
Special Stitches:
X-Stitch (x-st): Skip next st, hdc in next st, hdc in skipped st.
hdc2tog: yo, insert hook into the next st, pull up a loop, yo, insert hook into the next stitch, pull up a loop, yo and pull through all 5 loops on the hook.
Color Changes:
32 Rows: White
20 Rows: Light Pink
16 Rows: Mid Pink
23 Rows: Strawberry
Then reverse the color scheme once you complete the strawberry color.

Lefties rule!! The crazy thing is I crochet right-hand . My mom bless her heart tried to make me crochet left since it is my dominant hand.. So my auntie taught a crocheting class at a church then I was hooked. Lol
Jackie Sherman says
I didn’t read all the previous comments, but I have to say a huge THANK YOU for putting the chart up for us lefties! Most people don’t and sometimes I get frustrated by that. I can’t wait to try this, it’s beautiful!
Kathy Lashley says
You’re so welcome! As a lefty myself, it gives me pleasure to help everyone!

I am trying to see the colors of the new colorwheel yarn. Having no success. For a deaf person having to listen to a never-ending schpiel by that lady, when I am just trying to see the yarn colors, is NOT amusing in the least, to me!
Kathy Lashley says
Hi Sarah,
I can totally see how it would be frustrating to you listening to me have conversation with other people while also trying to display the yarn. At this time the yarn is only available in stores. You can click here to see the colors. At this time you can’t order on-line but will be able to the end of this month but at least you can see it. Thanks and hope this helps you!
Kathy
ROSE CHURILLA says

Kathy Lashley says
Hi Rose,
The yarn won’t be available in line until the end of the month! Stay tuned, and I’ll let you know!

Love this pattern and Loops and Thread is a wonderful product. Wishing I had more of it so will try to get to the store and buy more of this product. Thanks for being so talented and willing to share with the world. You have your own folder in my Crafts documents for all the wonderful items you design.
Kathy Lashley says
Wow my own folder? How awesome! Have a great weekend!
Mearla VanDenBerg says

Kathy Lashley says
Thank you Mearla!
Laura says
So pretty! The colors make me think of a strawberry shortcake 😍 Its It’s good to know it’s a “true” worsted weight too. I spent all weekend not too long ago fighting to get my gauge right with a lighter worsted.
Kathy Willin says
Gorgeous!!!! Bet it would be amazing with fringe too!!!! Thanks so much Kathy!!!
Kathy Lashley says
I totally agree with the fringe idea!
Lisa says
