Are you ready for DJ’s Top Down Guy Hat? It’s another great pattern for you! Remember my blog post the other day about my visit in Texas? I showed two hats with my granddaughters modeling. I started working on another hat for my grandson, but I didn’t get finished before I left. I did finish his hat but won’t be there to take his photo, so I decided to make another hat and have the hubby model. I used the same stitches as I did in Dakotah’s hat, but her hat was made from the bottom up. I know that some people would prefer a hat made from the top down, so here’s DJ’s “Guy Hat” version! Once I post Dakotah’s hat (I’m waiting on more yarn from Red Heart, so I can offer different sizes), I’ll post that hat pattern for you. I will also work on the color pooling hat I made for Jayden too!

I haven’t seen such a cool guys hat in a long time. My left wrist is in a cast, but as soon as it is off I will be making at least 10 of these in different colors. When you make for one they all have to have one. Thank you for posting free pdf. I don’t have a printer and my limited income makes it hard to pay for patterns.

This hat rocks! I’ve made three variations and they are all perfect. Your pattern writing is spot on! There’s a balance of masculinity, texture, and artistry. Thank you so much!

Yay! Thanks so much for taking a few minutes to comment Darrin! It’s definitely one of my favorites!

Lovely pattern! I’ve been looking for a good one for my husband. I’m almost finished. (Just need to test it on my hubby’s head). I made the large size and was worried it would be too small, but this hat has give and stretches nicely over the head. 🙂

Yay! Thanks for sharing Naomi!

Great Hat pattern. Do you suggest cutting the yarn with pattern change or do you somehow carry it on the inside of the hat without cutting and weaving in ends?
Kathy Lashley says
I think it depends. This hat was for my husband and he loves all my hats. He didn’t care whether I carried the yarn up or not. He just loves the hat. If I were going to sell this hat to a customer, I would want it to look as presentable on the inside as the outside, so yes…I would cut the yarn and weave in the ends with each color change. Either way is fine and more of a personal preference.

I’m going to have to make this now too. 🙂 Thank you
