Here’s another free crochet hat called Morning Sky and it’s just in time for the summer months ahead. It’s open and airy which leaves room for the nice breeze to keep you cool while still protecting you from the sun. This was my first experience using a variegated yarn for a hat, and I must admit that I loved it. Hobby Lobby’s “I Love This Cotton” was the perfect yarn for the project, and I will probably use it for some other hats for the ELK Studio – From the Heart Charity Events that I have each month.
The project is a great last minute project too and works up fairly quickly. I hope you will enjoy the pattern and keep coming back to visit! I would love if you added it to your QUEUE OR FAVORITES IN RAVELRY.
Pattern Instructions:
The size will fit an adult approximately 21″-22″.
Supplies:
1. I Love This Cotton. 150 – 175 yds (I only used 1 skein, but barely had enough to finish) Whew…..

Do you have video with how to do the asc? Is it like. Sc3tog ? I was confused with this term asc.. Thank you
Deanna
Kathy Lashley says
Deanna,
Don’t let the term confuse you but it’s not a sc3tog. You will be working in the same stitch. YO, insert your hook in the stitch, pull through only one loop on the hook although there are two loops. YO insert back into the same stitch and then pull through all three loops. Let me know if this helps. You could always substitute the special stitch with just single crochet stitches if you wanted but the brim won’t be as sturdy.
